Tyler Mahonnig Valley History Center

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s new Mahoning Valley History Center, in a historic landmark building in downtown Youngstown, will be an accessible and inclusive research and learning facility, and complement the Arms Family Museum of Local History site.

The Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center will provide the Youngstown-Warren Metropolitan Area with its only comprehensive regional history and learning facility. The Mahoning Valley Historical Society, established in 1875 and the steward of vast archival collections, has purchased a landmark building to further its mission of preservation, education, and inspiration through heritage. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the building is located in downtown Youngstown’s central business district, and its preservation is an investment in urban revitalization. The design for the adaptive reuse and renovation of the structure integrates accessible research and learning facilities with public spaces for community events. The Center will enable the Historical Society to augment its capacity as an educational and cultural resource
