Sons and Daughters of Zion

At the turn of the twentieth-century, a campaign was launched to incorporate the young men and woman of the community into the Zionist movement. The Sons and Daughters of Zion was founded with the original officers being: Joseph Altshuler, president; Theresa Broida (Fish), vice-president; M.B. Ozersky, recording secretary; Miss Tilla Broida, financial secretary; and Louis Regenstreich, treasure. The society grew quickly in membership and funding. In 1908, Lena Ozersky became president and further aroused enthusiasm for the organization. The headquarters for the Sons and Daughters was on Rayen Ave. and eventual became part of the Temple Emanuel.[1]
