People of India Suitcase

The Indian People suitcase examines the vast country of India and how it represents diversity in all its aspects: people, religions, customs, traditions, clothes and languages. Extensive historical background information, activities, pictures and artifacts celebrate the cultural heritage of local residents who are of Indian descent.

Students will:

• Use artifacts to interpret another culture

• Identify locations on a map

• Practice creative writing

• Research, organize and communicate data

•  Work effectively in a group

Age: middle/upper elementary and jr. high students

Subjects: history, geography, science, language arts, music, art and math.

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society educates and promotes an interest in the history of the Mahoning Valley by collecting, preserving, and developing material representative of the people who have inhabited the region.
